2022 MHPR Candidate Survey Results & Endorsements

sign.png

The last two years have changed our state in ways none of us could have ever imagined. Minnesotans, now more than ever, want to know where candidates stand on issues of health and parental rights.

Candidates are receiving a link to an online survey platform via email, messenger or through potential constituents. All questions assume there are no legal, custodial or criminal situations that would alter the typical role of the parents. All candidate responses will be added below as we receive them, no matter how it's answered. If you don't see their name, they have not responded yet. If you would like to personally invite a candidate to participate, please email info@mnrights.org for the link! We will update the list right up until election day.

Questions are loosely based off Minnesota's Parents' Bill of Rights which has filed in 2020 & 2022. You can read the bill HERE

 SURVEY QUESTIONS:

  1. SCHOOL CHOICE: Do you feel parents should be who determines the mode of education their minor child receives?

  2. RECORDS ACCESS: Do you feel parents should have full access to medical and educational records for their minor child?

  3. FAITH: Do you feel parents should direct the moral or religious upbringing of their minor child?

  4. INFORMED CONSENT: Do you feel parents should have the right to accept or decline medical interventions in coordination with the healthcare team of their choice?

  5. EDUCATION ACCESS: Do you feel there should be equal access to public education regardless of personal medical decisions on things like medical testing, antibody levels or immunization schedules?

  6. PARENTAL CONSENT: Do you feel there should be parental consent before any (non-emergent) examination or medical intervention of a minor child?

  7. ADULTS: Do you feel adults should have the right to accept or decline medical testing and interventions without discrimination from healthcare providers, employers, learning institutions and public venues?

  8. STATE OF EMERGENCY: Do you support retaining the aforementioned rights even, or especially, during times of state or national emergencies?

  9. Additional Candidate Quotes or Information

A Score with all YES is considered 100% supportive of our issues.

Endorsements:

MHPR has selected a committee made up of 15 active volunteer community members who will utilize a variety of tools to decide whom we endorse in any given race. Survey results, voting records, district group feedback and candidate interviews are all considered and a majority vote is required to issue endorsement. Candidates are nominated by their potential constituents or may select to express their interest in endorsement on the survey. Party affiliation is not a basis of endorsement. Group Members are not obligated to abide by our recommendations but we hope it will be helpful as you consider whom to support in the coming campaign and election season. Endorsements will be considered after their respective party endorsing conventions have been completed or district primary and will be noted after their names below.
