A Call for Urgent Support

​

We are reaching out on behalf of a courageous single mother in our community — a licensed nurse, a survivor of domestic abuse, and a full-time caregiver to her four children, including one with profound disabilities. This summer, she is facing an unprecedented crisis and needs our help.

​

Why She Needs Support

​

With the school year ending, this mother is left without childcare and cannot return to work due to a severe shortage of personal care assistants (PCAs). Her medically fragile child requires around-the-clock care, and her other children also have diagnoses that need daily support.

​

Until now, she has managed as both a nurse and a full-time caregiver, but her former partner is working to cut off her only source of income — her paid caregiver role — while also obstructing her children’s access to crucial medical care and services.

​

He has already succeeded in closing one child’s disability waiver in retaliation. Meanwhile, she continues to manage complex care, attend regular medical appointments — some hours away — and fight a high-stakes custody battle set for August that will determine who holds decision-making power over her children’s healthcare.

​

She is doing everything in her power. But she cannot do this alone.
